I have a few minutes so I thought I would share 2 cards that I made today for my upcoming Hostess Club.  These ladies have been fabulous with some attending for over 5 years now.  Thank you all for your support and friendship through the years.

New Stampin Technique "You Gotta See!"

Q&A Q:  I love seeing new techniques used for stamping. Can you tell me more about the Chalkboard technique?  A:  You hit right on a very popular trend in the papercrafting world! The Chalkboard or Faux Chalk Art technique is a fun twist on the basic resist technique. It creates the vintage look of old chalkboards, chalkboard art, and advertising.  Here’s how you can create the Chalkboard Technique... Supplies:        Card Stock:  Basic Black (or use Garden Green or Not Quite Navy for the look of old green and blue chalkboards)      Ink:  VersaMark, Whisper White Craft ink, ink matching the color of your card stock      Other:  Heat Tool, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Embossing Buddy, Watercolor Pencils (White Pencil), Stamping Sponges, ruler (clear is best) Step 1:  Rub card stock with Embossing Buddy. Stamp images with VersaMark ink. Heat emboss with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. (Try stamps such as: Amazing Family (#129189 wood, #129192 clear) pg. 7 of Spring Catalog or Forever with You (#126725 wood, #126727 clear) pg. 132 of Annual Catalog. Step 2:  Sponge edges of card stock with matching color to create contrast. Wipe off excess ink with tissue.  Lightly sponge around embossed images and in blank areas with Whisper White Craft ink. Sponge some areas darker and some lighter to create the look of chalk dust. Step 3:  Use a ruler or freehand draw lines through or above and below stamped images with the White Watercolor Pencil. Draw a border 1/4" from each edge of the card stock with the White Watercolor Pencil to create a frame around the chalkboard. Remember this is all “chalk” drawing on a board so being perfectly neat isn’t necessary! OPTIONAL:  If desired go back and shadow stamp over embossed images with Whisper White Craft ink. By stamping over, but slightly off center of the original image you create a blurred shadow effect. Allow craft ink to dry. Step 4:  Embellish with vintage items such as bits of Doily, ribbon, Delicate Details Lace Tape (#130966), Paper Doilies (#129399), Linen Thread (#104199), Baker’s Twine, buttons, or pieces from the Artisan Embellishments Kit (#129328).

Atlanta America's Mart Visit

As many of you know, I recently purchased an Embroidery business from a neighbor who is retiring.  My daughter Ashley and I are working together on this.  She is focusing on everything embroidered for children and sells it on her etsy site. www.etsy.com/shop/littlemissbriarrose. She does the cutest applique on onsies and rhompers. Take a look! I do everything else....golf shirts, tennis towels, ball caps, scrubs, lab coats etc.  So since I started this everyone is asking if I have gifts.  Using the excuse that Ashley just moved to Atlanta and I needed to see my 4 1/2 month old granddaughter, I decided to go to the Alanta Mart Fall Gift Show. OMG! the place is huge!  And, yes, we ordered some goodies.  I will have totes (many sizes), scarves, clutch purses, guest towels, bath wraps, and much more.  The good news is I have lots of catalogs! Craft Fair

Fall starts the season of craft fairs.  They are so fun.  I love to walk around and see all the different things people come up with don't you.  Back on the 8th and 9th of this month I participated in the Morroco Temple Fall Craft Fair with 2 of my Demonstrators, Lisa Tyndall and Christina Cummings.  I wish it wasn't so much work because I would do it all the time.  We all sold tons of little holiday things that we had made and even sold some of our retired stamp sets.  Lisa was nice enough to share a couple of her pictures. (I always forget)

It was difficult keeping the shelves full! Look at all the treats.  Great for office and teacher gifts!

We even had Christmas Planners, necklaces, and frames.

Lisa's cute kleenex boxes didn't last long.

We will be at the Morocco Shrine again November 17th and 18th.  Plan to come out and see us!

Better get busy!

 

Pantone Announces Spring 2013 Color Trend Forecast

Released on the first day of New York Fashion Week, thePANTONE Fashion Color Report features the top 10 colors for women's and men's fashion for spring 2013.

As we know, this forecast, taken from the trends of the greatest designers in the fashion world, sets the stage for color in all arenas of our life.  Clothing, cars, furniture, window treatments....it will even trickle down to our crafting world.  Our love of scrapbook paper and patterns will be ignited with all of the beautiful new combinations. 

I am excited to see the Poppy Red as a new but deeper Poppy Orange from 2012.  What is your favorite?
